We cannot express how excited we are for the viral success Mrs. White had taking her class on an imaginary trip to Mexico. During Hispanic Heritage month, Mrs. White's first grade class got paid for their classroom jobs, went to the passport office, and took a pretend flight to Mexico.
During this trip she served as a ticket agent, a TSA agent, a souvenir shop owner, took them to an authentic restaurant, and brought them back home - all before it was time for dismissal.
Her imaginative approach to her subject matter, her students is a testimony to active learning - Mrs. White engaged with her students on so many levels, giving them real life experiences that will follow them far beyond their classroom walls.
